Historian
Expertise: Black community heath outcomes, Black Canadian history, activism and advocacy, HIV/AIDS, Black culture
Dr. Williams has worked as an historian, author, educator, researcher, content developer, and consultant, specializing in Black Canadian history. She has authored three books: Blacks in Montreal, 1638-1986: An Urban Demography, in 1997, The Road to Now: A History of Blacks in Montreal, remains the only chronological study of Blacks on the island of Montreal and in 1998, Les Noirs à Montreal, Essai de demographic urbaine, -- a translation of Blacks in Montreal.
With a strong afro-centric focused perspective, Dr. Williams has penned both popular and scholarly articles in journals, magazines and newspapers about Black culture in Canada. Dr. Williams has often been invited to present and lecture, as well as to conduct teacher training and librarian workshops. The ABC's of Canadian Black History Kit is the culmination of Dorothy’s long-term goal to make Canada's Black history accessible to all.

- Lending support to: Interagency Coalition on AIDS and Development (ICAD) /Coalition interagence sida et développement (CISD);
- Founding member of: REISA- Le Réseau de l'Est de l'Île pour les services en anglais / The East Island Network for English Language Services: Health promotion and Liaison with partners, CHSSN;
- Managed point-of service for: Direction de santé publique de l'Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal / SIDA/ HIV;
- Community liaison for: comité consultatif communautaire et du comité de recherche du Projet SSG-AFCAR;
- Managed point-of service for: BRAIDS for AIDS, Concordia University, HIV/AIDS in the African Caribbean and Black Communities in Canada, CHABAC;
- Student supervision: HIV/AIDS: Cultural, Social, and Scientific Aspects of the Pandemic;
- Participant: Participatory Research At McGill (PRAM) Department of Family Medicine.
