Emigration of Canadian Immigrants

Recent reporting of Statistics Canada data has shown that a surprising percentage of immigrants later leave Canada. These charts indicate some of the trends in that data. Although a low percentage of immigrants leave each year, over time the cumulative effect of these departures means that by 25 years about arrival, about one in five immigrants have emigrated.

The Statistics Canada chart below shows this cumulative effect:
